Wait and see / On verra bien!

I spent the months of December and January working on my urban planning grad school applications, culminating with a trip to the East Coast at the end of January where I spoke with professors at several schools. It was illuminating to take my online efforts and turn them into meetings with real people. Since then I've been bogged down with my job, which is for the better since graduate school prices don't reflect the deflated economy.

I now wait comfortably for acceptances and rejects, or accections, as I prefer. I've heard from a few schools and await the rest before I dedicate any time or mental effort to choosing one.

It's rather easy to get sidetracked from thinking about planning. I had been reading and doing software projects diligently until I entered this limbo period. As soon as I select a program it will be easier to get my mind back into it. Plus it takes plenty of time to simply keep up with all the propose projects that are itching to get some federal stimulus money. The horizon looks super for high speed rail, unless the country fully fails before construction starts.

I'm looking forward to being excited about planning again and spending more mental and social time in that realm.

Les mois de Décembre et Janvier, j'ai travaillé sur mes demandes d'inscription pour une maîtrise de l'urbanisme. Ça a culminé avec une voyage à la côte Est à la fin de Janvier, ou j'ai parler avec des profs de quelques universités. C'était éclairant de transformer mes efforts sur ligne aux réunions avec des vrais gens. Depuis je m'embourbe dans mon boulot, qui vaut mieux puisque les frais universitaires ne révèlent l'économie dégonflée.

Maintenant j'attends à l'aise les acceptations et les rejets, ou rejeptations, comme je le préfère. Quelques universités m'ont déjà informé et j'attends la reste avant que je ne consacre le temps ou les efforts mentaux à l'acte d'en choisir une.

C'est bien facile de se fourvoyer des pensées urbanistes. Je lisais et faisais des projets informatiques assiduitement jusqu'à ce que je sois entré cette periode dans les limbes. Dès que je choisis une programme ça sera facile de les reprendre. En plus, ça prend pas mal de temps pour simplement me tenir informé des projects proposés qui mourent d'envie d'empoigner l'argent du paquet fiscal fédéral. L'horizon semble beau pour les trains de grande vitesse, à moins que le pays n'echoue complètement avant que la contruction ne commence.

J'attends avec impatience le retour de l'émoi d'urbanisme et l'opportunité d'y passé plus de temps mental et social.
